Phillip S. Jarvis
Phillip S. Jarvis

Phil Jarvis is Vice President of Global Partnerships at the National LifeWork Center in New Brunswick, Canada. A graduate of the Royal Military College, and former Captain in the Canadian Army, Phil authored the CHOICES computerized career system (now owned by Los Angeles-based Xap Corporation), and initiated Canada's national career tabloid, Canada Prospects. He co-authored the Blueprint for Life/Work Designs, was founding national coordinator of the Canada Career Information Partnership, was founding president of Canada WorkinfoNet (CanWIN), and is co-creator and international partnership coordinator for The Real Game Series. He was lead author of the ground-breaking digital editions of The Real Game for grades 6-9 (2008) and The Be Real Game for grades 10-16+ (2010).

Phil has been at the leading edge of development of career resources and programs now used by millions of youth and adults annually across Canada, the United States, and around the world. He speaks to the personal, social and economic costs of adhering to an outdated vocational guidance mindset, and the need to equip citizens with the skills demanded by the 21st century workplace. He is a passionate advocate for more engaging, imaginative approaches to helping people visualize and construct, with intentionality and purpose, the life they want to live. In recent presentations he is predicting a "Perfect Talent Storm" as we face at least two decades of too few skilled workers side-by-side with to many unfilled job vacancies.

Among other honours, he is a proud recipient of the National Occupational Information Coordinating Committee Contributors Award in the United States in 1988, the Stu Conger Award (1999) and the Stu Conger Gold Medal (2004) for national leadership in Canada in career development and management, and the 2010 Outstanding Achievement Award (Non Member) from the Canadian Association of Career Educators and Employers. He has inspired and lead the development of career programs and resources now used daily in over 50,000 schools and community agencies around the world.

Testimonials

After being in the military for so long, some people just take the first job that they can get. But if they're looking for something more, if they're looking for a career instead of a job, Pipeline offers you everything.

Pablo
Soldier

Before Pipeline, I had no idea what I was going to do after transitioning out of the military.

Chris

I would definitely recommend Pipeline to other transitioning soldiers or anyone looking for a job.

Brad

Pipeline will cause a smoother transition because everything is in one place.

Victor

The thing that's really great about what Pipeline is doing is making contact with soldiers 12 months out. I've talked to soldiers who are transitioning out tomorrow; now what are they going to do?
